The Flame of Peace torch relay of the 2nd edition of the European Games reached the State Flag Square in Minsk on 17 June.
The torch has been on the road for 46 days after lighting in Rome, Italy. Olympic medalist in rhythmic gymnastics Liubov Charkashyna received relay. She passed the symbol of the multi-sports forum to Belarusian People's Artist Vladimir Gostyukhin. Later, the prominent representatives of the country's sports, culture, media, health carried torch to the State Flag Square. Azerbaijani Olympic, double world and three-time European champion Kamandar Majidov was among them.
Later, three-time Olympic freestyle wrestler Alexander Medved appeared on stage. Alexander Medved handed over the flame to the young generation of Belarusian athletes: sambo wrestler Stsiapan Papou, and track and field athletes Elvira Herman and Volha Mazuronak.
The Flame of Peace torch relay will finish at Dinamo Stadium during the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games on 21 June. Minsk will host the 2nd European Games on 21-30 June. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete for 200 medal sets in 15 sports.
