The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of AzerbaijanThe Ministry of Agriculture is the central executive body that develops and realizes state policy in the fields of agrarian sector, production and processing of agricultural produce, providing the producers with necessary services, veterinary service and protection and quarantine of plants, and implements normative-legal and economic regulation in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Throughout the history, this Governmental body has operated under different names. It was established in 1947 under the name of the Ministry of Agriculture. In 1986, its name changed to State Committee on Agrarian-Economy. In 1992, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food was established in the Independent Republic of Azerbaijan and it functioned under this name until 1993. It started to function again as the Ministry of Agriculture in 1993. The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan was restructured according to the Order No. 467 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On measures for perfecting the management in agrarian sphere” dated October 23, 2004. Heydar Asadov serves as the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
