Children’s Fund of Azerbaijan was founded on April 14, 1988. After the independence of Azerbaijan in 1991, it continued its activity independently. The chairman of Children’s Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan is Aghil Maharramov. The Fund holds several events for education and bringing up of children, protection of their health, as well as, protection of sick, disabled children and those who are deprived of parental care. Children’s Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan is guided by UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in its activity. In 2008, Children’s Fund developed a law on children’s rights and submitted it to the parliament of Azerbaijan and the law was adopted. The Fund closely participated in the development and adoption of law on protection of the children deprived of parental care. Today central office and local departments of the Fund are guided by these laws in addition to aforementioned UN Convention in their activity. Children’s Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan is located on the second floor of Government House.
