“Kichik Dash” Gobustan rock engravingsThe area of Gobustan State Artistic Reserve located at the stony and cloddy foot of Greater Caucasus, where it is connected to the Caspian Sea, at 54 km in the south from Baku is more than 4000 ha. The main exhibits of “Open-air museum” are about 4000 rock engravings – petroglyphs in the areas called Boyuk Dash, Kichik Dash, and Chingirdagh. More than 6000 rock engravings, 20 caves and dwelling sites and 40 kurgans have been discovered in the area of the reserve up to date. Several interesting pictures made by primitive man have been discovered in the area called “Kichik Dash”. Majority of these engraved pictures are images of animals and men.
