Box graves – Chora province’s same named Chora capital, surrounding the territory from Absheron shore of Caspian Sea till Derbend took place of a big port and trade city in the ancient history. Even Albanian catalicos’ residence was located in this city. Also the sacred places at the province’s cemetery, box graves affirm that this place is the ancient living residence. The tombs, stone inscriptions, boxes, sacred places, above tomb inscriptions at Jorat cemetery inform about the past. In former times one of these stone inscriptions has been taken to Hermitage museum of Sankt-Petersburg. Another one inscription was taken to Baku and is demonstrated to the tourists at Giz Galasy with other stone inscriptions. The box analogous stones have been put above the box tombs. Usually the name of the deceased, his profession, ayats from Guran and ornaments have been written on these stones. The tombs are also called boxes. The box type tombs are concerned to the middle ages. There are also modern tombs beside the ancient tombs at the cemetery.
