There is a building called Sheikh Babi Yaqubi Khangahi Tomb (a place for dervishes) in Babi village of Fuzuli district which existed up to this day. The tomb is settled in Babi village of Fuzuli district in six kilometers from the Horadiz railway station. According to supposition, the architect of the Sheikh Babi Yaqubi’s Tomb (1273-1274) was Ali Mecideddin. Sheikh Babi Yaqubi Khangahi’s Tomb is also well-known among people as Shikhbaba’s tomb; this is an eight corner stone tomb. Since Babi village had Shikhbaba name till 1920, the tomb was called Shıxbaba tomb. This dervishes’ place was one of the religious-cultural centres of Azerbaijan, where once brave Azeri Turk’s sons, notable scientists, holy people, gathered. It is said that the corpse of the sheikh was buried in a stone box in front of the south window. A need has been felt for translation because the information in the inscription in the tomb was in Arabic language; the translation of Meshedikhanem Nemati specified that this holy tomb was constructed for hermit and perfect Sheikh Babi Yaqub ibn Ismail Qur Khar in 672 according to Hegira calendar (1273-1274 according to Christian calendar). The inscription writing shows that Kerbelayi Nasir repaired the temple in the beginning of XIX century. It is supposed Ali Mecideddin was the architect of the Sheikh Babi Yaqubi’s tomb (1273-1274). The minarets were constructed jointly with the walls of the Mosque; the walls are thicker in the lower part. There were cells build in the temple for different purposes which proves the use of the temple as a stronghold while fighting against stranger enemies. These original cells are notable among other farm-culture monuments of our country. The floor in the rooms had been covered with stones, what shows that the people who live once had had the ability of perfect skill, culture standards. Since old times the pilgrims from different countries would come to the temple. This proves that the person buried in the temple, Meshedi Babi İbn Yaqub used to be a holy man. People come here to pilgrimage from different regions of our republic today; they pray to great God about their different grieve in this temple.
