Ashug Valeh and ashug Zarnigar’s tomb stones – Ashug Valeh was born in 1729 year (by some sources – 1722 year) in Abdal Gulabli village of Aghdam. He had studied in Shusha. His real name is Safi. He was known as Karbalayi Safi among the people because of he had visited Karbala. Most of his poems have been written for modern poets Janyoghlu Abdulla, Baba bey Shakir and Ashug Gambar. Poet’s private relations with them have been reflected in these poems. It’s known from the poems that ashug Valeh had been in close relation with famous poet of that period Molla Panah Vagif (1717-1797). While living his last days one of our master poets Ashug Alasgar made his will saying: “treat with respect to Dede Gorgud, Gurbani, Abbas Tufarganly, Khasta Gasym, Huseyn Bozalganly, Huseyn Shamkirli, Ashug Aly, Agh Ashyg and Ashyg Valeh Gulably, because they have been ashugs which I considered direction towards Mecca. Ashug Valeh Gulably was buried at the ancient cemetery in Abdal Gulably village of Aghdam region. Zarnigar khanum who had married in 1747 year died in 1840 year in Abdal Gulably and buried at the ancient cemetery. Such poem was scraped above her tomb stone:I am the true promise in faithful love,I am faithful to devoted love. The place is Derbend, the husband is Valeh,I am Zarnigar from the epos.Generally, either the poems or separate rhymes inform that Zarnigar has been the lady of deep sense, progressive intellectual woman. We regret that her wide biography and activities hadn’t been investigated yet. There is “Valeh-Zarnigar” epos existing.
