Gasim bek Bathhouse The bathhouse was built during the rule of Shirvanshah Khalilullah I near the Salyan Gate. In folk etymology this place is also called “Sweet Bathhouse” because here sweets were served along with tea. Planning structure of the bathhouse is based on traditional methods of local architecture. So it is consisted of vestibule, dressing and bath rooms, pond with warm water and fire-box. Dressing and bath rooms have cross-shaped domes and chambers in the corners. The main domes over the central parts of the bathhouse are octahedral. Inner space of the bathhouse divided with arches, cupolas and domes is distinguished with high degree of unity of architectural and constructive forms. Voluminous plastic art of the hall is gained through horizontal and vertical distributions of architectural masses. Water supply, heating and warming are provided by pipes laid inside the walls and under the floor. Reconstruction works in the bathhouse were implemented at the end of 1970 and it turned into Green drugstore. Gasim bek bathhouse is one of the interesting monuments of civil architecture of the Middle Ages and is protected by the state.
