In 1859, on the hill opposite to the island Pirallahi Absheron lighthouse was built - the largest of the local lighthouses. It consists of the original 25-meter structure, with a stone tower, windows in the form of anchors and arched entrance. A spiral staircase of 102 steps leads to the top of the building. Beacon was launched on October 23, 1860. With visibility at a distance of over 38 km, the lighthouse provides secure entry of ships in Absheron strait, located between the mainland and the island Pirallahi. The lighthouse was lit by oil lamps. Later, in 1912, the lighthouse was lit by kerosene lighting device, and, since 1956, it was replaced by electricity. Currently beacon lighting provides electric lamp of 500 watt and special lenses.
