President Ilham Aliyev took part in the opening ceremony of the park named after national leader Heydar Aliyev in Maraza settlement in May, 2008. Environing 5 hectares area, there are musical and colorful fountains, artificial springs built in the modern style, and newly assembled seats in the park. Greenery was created by planting flower bushes and trees.There are merry-go-rounds for children and other sports facilities. District headquarters of New Azerbaijan Party, Heydar Aliyev Museum, Art center for children, Marriage Office are settled within the territory of the park. Great Leader Heydar Aliyev"s statue adds special panorama to the appearance of this resting place. Being 6.1 m high with the pedestal, the monument was designed by people"s painter academician Omar Eldarov from facet and bronze.
