Sanctuary complex (Ganja) – this architecture monument concerning to the middle centuries is located in ancient Ganja ruins approximately 7 kilometers from Ganja city. There are mosque, tomb, other sepulchers, houses alike the karvansaras and half-buildings around imam’s tomb build with the bricks; and also the large religious complex consisting of the big cemetery, which preserved the tomb above monuments, reflecting the work of art and the world outlook of natural masonry masters of XVIII-XIX centuries, surrounded with the fence build with the stones and bricks. The most valuable monument of the complex right-angled sanctuary completes with the cupola covered with multi-colored glazed bricks. The cupola has been put on the cylindrical platform. Except the south-east façade, the buildings have been annexed to the tomb from other sides. According to all these buildings we can say, that the sanctuary building has been re-constructed, restored and repaired at different times. From the photographs taken by unknown person in 1878 year becomes clear, that sanctuary’s cupola and cylinder’s cover has changed considerably during the repair works. The east half of the cylinder part was covered with the inscription in Cufic handwriting. And this affirms the ideas of those who concern the tomb’s building to the beginning of the XIII-XIV centuries. The content of the inscription written in Arabic above the little marble board in the wall on the ground floor of the tomb is following:”He is eternal from God. This is the honorable heaven garden of the son of imam Mohammad Baghyr – salam to him – Movlan Ibrahim. He died after 120 years of his grand-father’s death – let Allah’s blessings to him. That’s why general-major Israfil bey Yadigarzadeh from Tbilisi ordered to restore this sacred place in 1296 year.” The above mentioned general-major Israfil bey Yadigarzadeh has been commander of the 2-d horse Moslem regiment of Russian army. Israfil bey carried out the repair and restoration works in sanctuary complex by his own means in 11878 year. In spite of he had studied in Russia, worked in high ranked military posts in Russian army, he was one of Azerbaijani intellectual men, who respected and entrusted cultural faith, remained faithful to the traditions of ancestral. The nearest relatives of Israfil bey Yadigarzadeh have also been buried in sanctuary complex. Like in other sanctuaries of Azerbaijan territory there is no initial inscription showing the burial date of Imam’s son Ibrahim in Ganja sanctuary. Famous doctor, poet, mosaic, calligraphy Mirza Mehdi who lived and created in the XIX century in Ganja was buried near the sanctuary. It’s possible to see the tombstones made by him in the sanctuary complex. There are also the works of calligraphy - Sheykh Zaman in the sanctuary complex. One of them is the monument of Akhund Movlana Huseyn. After 14 innocent salavats and salams of Allah there is a little note about the calligraphy:”Engraver sinner slave Zaman ibn Mohammad Ali”. There is the following information about the deceased given later: “Mullah Huseyn, son of the deceased Haji Mohammad from Lahijanly settled down in Ganja in rajab month of 1279 year, the most erudite from the sublime, kind and dignified scientists, noble, the creator of the basic shariat laws, charm of the mosque and pulpits, pride of the greatest and famous, the one who spread the teaching of the prophet for both worlds, ecclesiastic and theologian, has died. Let his land be clear, let his place rise in the heaven.” As it’s seen from the inscription great scientist Movlana Huseyn who lived in Ganja in the XIX century besides religious sciences also knew other sciences, had the name of high ranked scientists “movlana”, propagated the mystification ideas. Akhund Movlana Mullah Huseyn’s activity was closely connected both with the mosque and the sanctuary in Ganja. The sanctuary complex was fundamentally repaired in 2010-2012 years.
