Statue of Mustafa Kamal AtaturkThe statue of Mustafa Kamal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey was erected in Nasimi district, Baku, in front of the Embassy of Turkey in Azeerbaijan, in the park at the intersection of Samad Vurgun and Bakikhanov streets. Opening ceremony of the statue was held on May 17, 2010. President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey and his wife Amina Erdogan participated in the opening ceremony of the statue. The author of the statue of Mustafa Kamal Ataturk is people’s artist, sculptor Omar Eldarov. Mustafa Kamal Ataturk was the leader of Turkish National Salvation Movement, the founder and first president of the Republic of Turkey. He became the president of the Republic of Turkey four times until his death. No other president in the history of Turkey has served more than him. His name was included in the list of 100 most studied persons in the history.
