Bananiyar mosque – has been built in Bananiyar village of Julfa region. The total area is 11x20 metres, and the height is 5 metres. The history of Bananiyar mosque dates back to the early XIX century. It was burnt by Armenians in 1905. Later the reconstruction works were carried out in the mosque. The construction of a new mosque was started with the initiative of the local inhabitant Ibrahim Nuriyev and at the cost of the funds of the village people in 1987. Most part of the construction was completed in 1997. This two-storeyed mosque has been commissioned currently. The height of the current mosque from the ground to the ceiling is 9 metres, ans the height from the ground to the tomb is 15 metres. The inside area is 40x20 metres. The second floor of the mosque is intended for women. The area of it is 15x10 metres. The words “Allah, Mahammad, Ali, Fatima, Hasan” have been written in the inner side of the tomb of the mosque, and the words “La Ilaha Illallah, Mahammadan Rasulallah” have been written a bit below.
