Hazrat Ali mosque – has been built in Ganjali block of Shaki city. The exact date is not known. But according to the local inhabitants, the mosque has existed still before Nadir shah’s attack. The area of the praying hall of the mosque is 26x13 metres. The praying hall is in the first floor. And there are subsidiary rooms in the ground floor. The backyard is 660 sq.metres.
This mosque is in the form of a quadrangle and has been built from baked brick and minestone. The thickness of the walls is 75 cm. The roofing has been laid with white iron sheet.
Hazrat Ali mosque has preserved its primary situation. But its minaret has been destroyed in the years of repression. The minaret and alter of the mosque have been rebuilt in 1997. The height of the current minaret is 22 metres. The minaret is round-shaped and has been laid with baked brick.
The mosque has been used as a school, a sport hall during the Soviet period. Its activity has been restored in 1994.
Hazrat Ali mosque has been restored by the Cultural Centre of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku since 1994. The praying hall, as well as the minaret of the mosque has been rebuilt during restoration.
Hazrat Ali mosque is known with its famous moollahs. One of them was Akhund Abduljabbar Zeynalabdin Pishnamazzade. He has got his education in Najaful-ashral and has written the book “Misbahui-Harameyn”. His grave is in the front part of the mosque.
