Nobel Brothers’ House – Nobel brothers came to Baku in 1878 and did a lot of work here. They founded oil industry in Azerbaijan. They bought the first oil extracting field in Balakhani and “Black City” Kerosene factory. They established the first oil pipeline – Balakhani-“Black City” pipeline. They launched the first oil tanker “Zoroastr” into the Caspian Sea. Baku oil had an exceptional role in formation of financial means of Nobel Prize.Nobel brothers’ house is located Keshla settlement. The building was built during 1882-1884 and was restored by Baku Nobel Heritage Fund in 2007. Nobel brothers’ house was built by Branobel Company. The name of the architecture is not known. Nobel brothers’ house included an administrative building, a Sweden-German school, a theatre, a hospital and a family mansion for the Nobel family. The house was private property of the Nobel family until 1919, but then nationalized by the state. Since 2008 it functions as Nobel House-Museum. Belongings of Nobel families are collected in the house-museum.
