Permanent Exhibition of Traditional Musical Instruments Branch of the State Museum of Musical Culture of AzerbaijanAddress: 119, Zarjarpalan str.The exhibition was founded in 1987 and is consisted of entrance and two rooms. In the first room, items with images on musical art discovered during the archeological excavations, materials on the thoughts of Azerbaijani scholars of XIII-XIV centuries about music, literary and architectural monuments, miniatures of painters of Middle Ages are exhibited. Replicas of rare musical instruments and modern musical instruments are also demonstrated here. In the next section, the path of development of the first ensemble and orchestras of traditional musical instruments in which prominent players of traditional musical instruments of Azerbaijan is shown. The second room is dedicated to the life and works of Ahmad Bakikhanov, people’s artist, pedagogue and tarzan (tar player) of Azerbaijan. Master tarzan’s collection of traditional musical instruments of Azerbaijan is also exhibited in here. The other section also demonstrates the development history of Azerbaijan’s instrumental performance school.
