Abdulla Shaig Talibzade (1881-1959) is a great Azerbaijani classic, an outstanding teacher and cultural figure that left a rich artistic heritage to our national literature. He is the founder of the National Children's Drama and was one of the first creators of student textbooks in Azerbaijan. He is also one of the famous critics and literary scholars of Azerbaijan, who translated world literature into the Azerbaijani language. Having married and moved with his brother and mother to the second floor of a three-story house, which was built in 1805, at 21 Yukhari Daghlig Street in 1896, A. Shaig lived here until December 1857 and created wonderful works here as well. This street was named after this great writer due to the state centenary of the birth of A. Shaig in 1981. Founded in 1990 by the Order of the Council of Azerbaijan, the Abdulla Shaig House Museum began functioning in December 1991 and was opened in January 2001, on the eve of the writer’s 120th birthday. The exposition consists of 4 rooms. The first room is dedicated to the world fame of A. Shaig. In the second room - images of Tbilisi’s hometown, the writer's genealogy, personal life, memories of his parents, family, photographs and documents. The third room is dedicated to his teaching activities. A. Shaig, one of the founders of Russian pedagogy, said: "I am proud that I am not only a writer, but a teacher as well." In the 4th room is the corner of Professor Kemal Abdulla Shaig oglu Talibzade, a prominent scientist, member of the AMEA, honored worker of science, who laid the foundations of the history and theory of national criticism.

The museum studies and promotes the life and work of the writer, as well as the activities of writers and teachers that were honored to know Abdulla Shaig. The main goal of the museum is to acquaint the young generation with Shaig’s thoughts, his artistic world, to promote his pedagogical and broad social activities, literary and critical meetings throughout the life of the writer. The museum has a rich collection of more than 4,000 exhibits. The collection consist of souvenirs and household items, old books, photographs, manuscripts, works of art, programs, posters and much more. The collection of books and periodicals of the collection totals more than 1200 exhibits. Among them are many rare bibliographic publications, the first student textbooks created by Abdulla Shaig, religious books, periodicals dating back to the beginning of the century, etc. The “Original Photos” Fund of the museum contains photographs reflecting the life and work of A. Shaig in the last century. The entrance to the museum is decorated with a bust of A. Shaig, created by the sculptor Natig Aliyev.
