Azerbaijan State Museum of AgricultureIt was established with the initiatives of Government and Lands Commissariat of the republic in 1923. It was first organized as sales exhibition of agriculture and industrial trade. Later on exhibits demonstrated in here attracted extensive attention because of their richness and as a result, it started to function as a museum. The entrance of the museum is decorated with the map of “Silk Way”, map of Azerbaijan made from cereals, paintings dedicated to different fields of agriculture and etc. In the first hall of the museum, maquette of Gobustan rocky areas, one of the oldest dwelling sites, images of windmill, ploughman, millet, and agricultural tools are placed. In the hall, a shack dating back to XVIII-XIX centuries attracts the attention. In the shack, clothes and jewelry, daily home things, dishes made of clay and wood, churn, wooden scales, saddle-bags, palaz and carpets weaved from wool thread, spinning wheel, small hand-mill (quern), and etc. are demonstrated. In the next hall, exhibits, paintings dating back to the end of XIX century and beginning of XX century are demonstrated. There is a special corner dedicated to Hasan bey Zardabi, a well-known scholar-botanist, prominent public figure of Azerbaijan. In the hall, there is also information about “Fordzon” tractor brought to Azerbaijan from USA in 1925. The third exposition hall is dedicated to grain-growing and cotton-growing. Sample of wheat grain dating back to I century AD found during archeological excavations in Mingechevir, picture of can dating back to I millennia B.C. with description of wheat and barley on its handle, ancient agricultural tools are exhibited in here. In the hall, mill-stone that was set in motion with horse is also demonstrated. In the section of the hall dedicated to cotton-growing, sample of cotton seeds dating back to V-VI centuries and found in Mingechevir during archeological excavations. Pictures of labor leaders, socialist labor heroes such as Basti Baghirova, Shamama Hasanova, Sardar Imraliyev, the first female machine-operator, Sevil Gaziyeva and others are placed in the hall. In the fourth exposition hall of the museum, interesting corners are created concerning cattle-breeding, bee-keeping, fruit-growing, vine-growing, silkworm breeding, tobacco growing and tea-growing. In the fifth exposition hall, exhibits showing the daily life and ethnos of the people of Azerbaijan are demonstrated. Work, wedding and holiday and ceremony uniforms of peasant man and woman, jewelry, chest and other home things dating back to the end of XVIII century and the beginning of XIX century are exhibited in here. Peasant people engaged in cattle-breeding were setting up nomad tents for themselves when they moved to summer pastures. In the hall, it is possible to get acquainted with the examples of those nomad tents. In the last hall, mainly the presents given to the museum are demonstrated. In addition, wooden scales, skimmer, copper kettle, clay jug, wooden troughs and other home things are shown in the museum. In addition to these, there are hides of some animals, product made of them, sheep’s skin for keeping cheese, spinning wheel, wool comb and etc. along with two-tooth and five-tooth pitchfork, sickle, threshing board, rake and etc. in the hall.
