The Caspian reserveThe Caspian coast is one of the main places where the waterfowl live in mass in Eurasian region. In the neighbourhood of 5 - 6 million birds migrate to the Caspian region from various countries of Europe and Asia. The Caspian Sea has three reserves. One of them is the Caspian Reserve which is on the south-eastern shores of the sea. Its area equals to 262 thousand hectares. The area is divided into two parts: the northern part – from Turkmenbashi city to Cheleken Peninsula; the southern part - from Okrem to Hasan Gulu cape and outfall of the Atrek river. The reserve was set up as Hasan Gulu ornithology in 1933 and consists of two parts: the parts of Hasan Gulu and Krasnovodsk are 69.7 and 192.3 thousand hectares respectively. Its residents are ducks, phoenicopteruses, swans, coot, otter, and seagulls.
