The sanctuary in Tenenem – Is located to the northeast of village Tenenem of Sharur region in a cave of "Gazma" which is located to the northwest of Garagush mountain (2600 m), of Daralajaz ridge. It is a medieval habitat of people. The village Tenenem is located on distance of 24 km from the regional center and 9 km from a highway of Nahchyvan – Sadarak. In its territory there is a set of rough springs and consequently Tah nationalities were the first who arrived here from ancient settlement Tjanovan in territory of Zangezur. The village name is connected with a name of the governor of a tribe of Tahov. At first it was said as "Tjahovan", later – as by Tenenem. The sanctuary in village represents a small house with half fallen off dome. In a structure there is an anonymous Muslim tomb. It is possible to judge sanctuary formation only on works of the researchers who have visited this territory. In 1928 the research assistant of Nahchyvan state museum of local history M. B. Mirhaydarzade visited the sanctuary and wrote the following: «In ancient village Tenenem there is an ancient place named «Piri-musalman» (Muslim sanctuary). However, people call it as "Piri-Sulejman” (sanctuary of Sulejman)».
The long-livers who arrived here, say that they have located here only for two reasons. The first – presence of a deep spring and quiescence, the second – a stone tomb (sanctuary) with the Arabian inscription. According to old residents, after formation of Russian Soviet power here in 20th years, under instructions of local leader Kerbelai Ismail our fellow countryman Gamlo and its armed people hid in the sanctuary for a few days and fired at soldiers of Russian Red army. As a result of firing Russian have suffered defeat, and tombstone with inscriptions has been shattered by a bullet direct hit. In the nineties shattered stone has disappeared from a tomb. It is rather probable that the sanctuary in Tenenem is a spiritually-historical monument of XVII - XVIII centuries. During this period this territory was on the Great Silk way, and the trading caravans going in a direction of Sadarak-Ahura-Garabaglar-Nahchyvan, stopped here for rest at cool springs. It is supposed that the instructor or the owner of a caravan by name of Sulejman who arrived here from the countries of the Middle East has suddenly died during the next stop and was buried in the same place. According to doctors, if the sweaty person in summer hasty drinks cold water may die. It is supposed that the unknown person by name of Sulejman buried in a sanctuary, at will of destiny has ended his life for this reason and since to deliver remains of the dead person to the nearest cemetery was difficult he has been buried directly on this place. Inhabitants of village wrongly assume that the sanctuary belongs to "a tomb of prophet Sulejman».
