Sheikh Yusif tomb – Sheikh Movlana Yusif was a remarkable philosopher and sect leader, who had lived and created in the XV century in Mushkur plain. Abbasgulu agha Bakikhanov wrote about it in his work “Gulustani-Irem”: “Sheikh Mullah Yusif Mushkurlu was born in the VIII century by hijra. After having secondary education in Mushkur he went to Sheikh Yahya Bakuvi and studying sciences got blessings from him. After coming back to Mushkur he propagated his education and later gave the leadership to Sheikh Mohammad. Sheikh’s grave and the village, where his family lived, were called Sheikhs. The tomb is located in Shykhlar village’s territory of Khachmaz district of Azerbaijan. Movlana Sheikh Yusif’s tomb consists of two rooms. There are a few graves in the tomb. Following was written above one of the graces: “This grave belongs to Movlana Sheikh Yusif’s son deceased Mohammad Ali. Eight hundred sixth year” (1403-1404 years). Ibrahimkhalil and Umsalamad named husband and wife have worked hardly for a while to preserve this tomb. Because of this Ibrahimkhalil was sent to Siberia in 1937 year and his property was confiscated. However his followers continued the restoration of the monument. His grand-son Aflatun Mammadov constructed the sanctuary in here with the help of the people. Sheikh Yusif’s grand-son Teyyub Sayid Hajybala ogly reconstructed the sanctuary in 1986 year.
