Tomb of Mahammad (Gala) – It is located in Gala territory of Baku. One of the most spread constructions in Azerbaijan is the tomb mausoleums. The inscriptions above the mausoleums show to which feudal dynasty it belongs. These inscriptions have no connection with Islam. Usually the mausoleums have been built as the memory of the deceased. According to Islam laws the tombs must be quite simple. There are 2 mausoleums concerning to the middle ages in Gala village. History of one of them concerns to the XVII century. The upper part of the mausoleum has the cupola form. The entrance part was arrow-shaped and then as the result of gradually destroying it was corrected and made right-angled. There are 2 sentences in Arabic written above the entrance part. It’s said: “The mausoleum was constructed in 1034 by hijra-lunar calendar(1625 year by our time) in times of Shakh Abbas Kusayin by Mahammad from Gala”. There are no tombs in the mausoleum. “Mahammad” mausoleum concerns to 1624-25 years. There are the bullet signs on its walls. The villagers who protested against the Soviet authority have been executed by shooting in 1930 year at this cemetery. The second mausoleum was built later and was used for religious purposes.
