Seaside BoulevardThe decision for construction of Seaside Boulevard was made by Baku City Duma in 1909. The next year construction began. Mammad Hasan hajinski, an engineer then working for Duma, had exceptional services in construction of the park. During the next two years fertile soil from around and rare plants from other countries of the world were brought here. In 1950-60s “Mirvari”, “Bahar” cafes, summer cinema named after S. Vurgun, “Little Venice” water town and several other leisure objects were constructed in the territory of the boulevard. “Little Venice” was put back into service in 2012 after long restoration period. “New Venice” is quite different from the old “Little Venice” from visual appearance point of view. The width of canals of the water town is expanded and tunnels were reconstructed. In spite of all these renovations, the main point of the “Venice” water town is kept the same. In 1970s the boulevard was expanded in eastern and western directions. Seaside Boulevard was given “National Park” status with the Order of former president Heydar Aliyev on December 29, 1998. Today National Park is the second biggest park for its area after the park on the bank of the Seine River in Paris. During the recent years, vast construction and renovation works were implemented in Seaside National Park. The area of the boulevard was expanded several meters into the sea. New decorative trees and shrubs brought from different countries are planted in the park and greenness is extended. New electric buses, phaetons, ships and other facilities operate in the park. There are also mobile photo studios, small kiosks, up-to-date cafes, and etc. leisure and entertainment centers in the park.
