The Germans living in Azerbaijan at the end of 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century belonged to Protestantism. Protestant church in our country was built in Helenendorf (Goygol territory) in 1857. Later on, the Germans built Lutheran churches in the territory of Gadabay, Shamakhy, Baku, and Shamkir. The church located in Shamkir is more than 100 years old. Roofing of this monument was renewed with red ceramics. This church was built in 1909 by Germans who settled in Shamkir town in the 19th century. The church has been used for various cultural events upon Germans" leaving Shamkir. There is an organ here which is a rare musical instrument for Azerbaijan.
