Dede Korkur Park, one of the modern parks, was opened in 2013. It is one of the largest parks of the capital city covering 6 ha area. All the facilities for resting were built, greening works carried out, man-made lake created, lighting systems of up-to-date standards were installed in this park. Dede Korkut Park is also open-air exhibition of ancient Azerbaijan’s history and culture. In the center of the park “the Book of Dede Korkut” monument is erected by sculptor Goyush Babayev.“The Book of Dede Korkut” epos is a 1300 years old work of art reflecting the historic past of Azerbaijani people. In this epos patriotism, heroism, wisdom, historical past, moral values, customs and traditions of Azerbaijani people and toponyms of Azerbaijan are reflected. This epos is a matchless source for study of ancient nuances of our language and culture of our people. A man-made lake covering three ha area and a waterfall was built in the territory of the park. Visitors of the park can rent a catamaran and sail in the lake. There are two bridges for this purpose. Moreover, there are bridges for walking at the downstream of the man-made waterfall and also over the small gulf that is intended for special water plants.
