Maiden tower – is based at 7 km distance from Soyudlu village of Gadabay, at the top of the mountain and differs by the extreme monumental character of architectural figure. The tower has a multangular complete plan. The round towers on the angles increase its firmness, arrests the attention to its immensity more vividly. The maiden tower has been adapted to the mountain relief, and it is two-fold. Naringala which has a pentagonal plan, is situated on the upper layer, at the top of the mountain. The second division built on the lower layer is connected to the inner tower from the South. The tower has been built of a quadratic baked brick. One of the distinguishing constructive elements of Maiden tower of Gadabay is a two-fold character of counterforts on the outer surfaces of Naringala. Besides considerably strengthening the protection of the Maiden tower, these two rows of counterforts that pass through the middle of the walls and towers as a belt and complete them as a crown above, were also increasing the power of its artistic influence. The Maiden tower of Gadabay which is supposed to have been built in the XII century is one of the valuable samples of the military architecture of Azerbaijan and is built at the inaccessible top of mountain as a sample of an architect’s imagination.
