Sayyid Safi (Saffan) sacred place – It was created after the XIX century in association with the mystic Islam sect on the sacred place in Duyulun village of the Ordubad district. In the middle ages the Moslems which were from Hazrat Ali’s family (Shiah Islam sectarians) have been pursued and killed by the Islam caliph Yusif ibn Sajjad (in times of Abbasy) on Iraq territories. In connection with all this seventh imam of Shiah Moslems, son of Hazrat Musa Kazim – Sayyid Safi (Saffan) has been caused to wander from his native lands. The fortune brought him to the famous city of Middle Ages - Azada town situated on the left shore of Araz river. Those times the people idolized the fire-worship and ignored Islam. Sayyid Safi (Saffan) remained in Azada town and carried out Islam teaching, and later had been poisoned and killed by the hypocrite abbots. After burying his grave in his house in 765 year by h.l. calendar the Moslem generous men had built the tomb. Created after the grandiose Azad and Gilan cities have been destroyed and reduced to ruins by the foreign oppressors (especially by Mongolians) Duyulun village later on has became symbolically “Du Gilan” (Second Gilan). Afterwards “Du gilan” turned into “Duyulun” on Tabriz dialect. Present-day Duyulun village’s population comes metaphorically of the son of the leader of Garagoyunlu Gara Yusif – Pirbughi. There were the grave stones with ram statues made of tuph stones in the ancient cemetery in Duyulun village, and the same grave stones with ram statues belonged to the feudal family leaders during Garagoyunlu authority. There was written 256 Ayat of Guran’s Bagara Sura (2) in Cufic Arabic on one of the gravestones of the XIV century in the cemetery. There was also written the name of the buried in the grave Khaja Malik (Khaja Malik Turkmenbashi as the leader of Azad city in 1300 year issued a decree to poison Sayyid Safi) and his death date (hijra 770 – Christianian 1368). Khaja Malik Turkmenbashi constructed the vicegerent over Sayyid Safi’s grave and announced that place as the sacred place for pilgrimage. The Plane tree near the sacred place stands proudly as the memory of the past and gives its coolness to the visitors.
