The Sanctuary is in a mosque building in Njus-njus village of Ordubad region. In the region this sanctuary is called «Gyrkh kimsa» (Forty unknown persons). There is an asphalt road from Ordubad to sanctuary in length of 7 km. The village is located at height of 2500 meters over sea level. It rolls in orchards on Dubandi river bank. The foundation of village Njus-njus is connected with a sanctuary, located on its territory. So, the name of the village originated as people who have moved here spoke to a black stone in the form of a column "nis-nis" (to disappear). The first tribe moved here from Diyaychay, Zangazur was Gadimli. (People with a rare surname of Gadimli (Gadimov), living in Autonomous republic territory, are descendants of this tribe). Later other tribes from southern coast of Arax (Southern Azerbaijan) and other places began to move here. Inhabitants of the village descended from the Gadimli, Salehli, Abbasly, Elirzaly, Mamedli, Gusejnli, Shyhly and other tribes, moved here. They possess friendly and hospitable character and are devout people. One of two mosque buildings in Njus-njus is constructed on a sanctuary place, and people call it "Sarchi" (a place abounding with water). This mosque was constructed in XIV century and has remained up to now. The mosque building is two-storeyed and on the ground floor there is a miraculous sanctuary. So, a stone column of the square form in a mosque (sanctuary), height 6 and width 1 meter still «continues to grow». According to old residents of village, in the past this black stone column sometimes demolished as a result of earthquakes, however each time "grew" again on a former place. According to rural mullah Kerbelai Agil Ali (who himself heard it from the ancestors), the mosque building at a sanctuary was constructed 630 years ago by Abu Said Bahadur khan. Besides, there was an inscription in ancient Arabic (by handwriting suls) on the door made of sandalwood and remained in sanctuary since ancient times with size 1,5х1 meter. (Russian orientalist V.Hanykov, who visited the sanctuary, was the first who informed on this inscription). Translation of the inscription, made on the door in the form of an arch, says: «This mosque, existing in the name of Allah, was constructed by Bahadur shah and two rakat namaz should be made» (in an inscription names of 40 Moslems, lost in a sanctuary according to local residents, aren"t mentioned. After numerous earthquakes the building of the mosque was repaired and its previous look restored. The court yard at a mosque building has the area about 0,4 hectares. In one of rooms on the building ground floor (in a sanctuary) there is a symbolical Muslim tomb. Pilgrims arriving here most of all give attention to a black stone column arising from the earth. Quite probably the tomb in a sanctuary belongs to one of attendants of the mosque, served here in the past. In a sanctuary all facilities have been established, the necessary equipment is provided for pilgrims. One of miraculous properties of the sanctuary is that mentally ill people, having slept three nights at a black column, recover from the illnesses with the power of Allah and prayers of 40 devout people, lost in the sanctuary. Other wonderful feature of the sanctuary is that unscrupulous and ill-intentioned people can"t cross a threshold of a small ancient door (to enter in which it is necessary having bent because of its small sizes) – a force holds and doesn"t let them in. The sanctuary of Njus-njus can be visited at any time of year. According to legends, it is possible to see the souls of 40 devout Moslems in white clothes, lost in the sanctuary, only once in a year – on day when it becomes equal to night (on March, 19-20th). For this purpose it is necessary to make a wish and to lean back against the black column, and it well be seen in your dream. A person, who will receive something from one of people in white clothes during this moment, will live the life in happiness, and in judgment day will receive an easy question. All of it is one of miracles of the Creator, bow to Him! Amen!
