It was constructed in Gala village during II Shah Abbas"s rule in 17th century. Inscription of the reservoir is protected in the Shirvanshahlar reservation. The Arabic inscription reads: "This is the time of merciful Shah Abbas Safavid, shadow of Great Allah on the earth. May God keep his authority permanently". This reservoir was built upon ruler of the village - Nurmuhammed ogly Fulad"s order in 1065 hijri. The date indicates 1655 calendar which coincides with the ruling years of II Shah Abbas from Safavid dynasty. The source of reservoirs is usually underground waters. The word "ovdan" (reservoir) is of Persian origin and means "The place where water is kept". The entrance of reservoir is contrary to the wind direction. Reservoir consists of two- underground and surface parts. Surface recalls a right-angled triangle and has been covered with limestone. Entrance to the underground is by stairs. If intended to gather rain water, pools of the reservoirs were replaced with wells in the end of the stairs. Reservoirs were usually built at crossroads or near caravan routes. Near the reservoirs trees used to be planted for rest of the travelers. Reservoirs were also intended to liquidate the thirst of the travelers.
