Mamrukh temple – It’s the ancient Albanian church constructed on the top of Armatay mountain near Mamrukh village of Zagatala. The church was constructed on the basis of the Moon and Sun God temples. The temple has got quite difficult composition. The temple’s building has got three entrance doors. There is the deep hollow - apse in the wall on the east side. The apse is placed on the upper part of the main building. There are two altars on both sides of the building and little rooms which two side-entries. The cupola-ending drum was placed on four columns-arches. Mamrukh temples’ architecture is alike local Albanian temples, has been worked out more excellent and difficult manner than Mitra God temple on Kilisadagh. Four pylons (simple column) and the central absid play the main role in the interior of the temple. Later on tetrakonx – composition consisting of four apses was created over this base. The same absids were placed face-to-face like the cross. Mamrukh temple is considered as the direct mean from the composition point of view between roton (the building with four equal sides) in Kilisadagh and the tetrakonx in Lakit village of Gakh district. It is supposed that the temple was changed into the church during the period of Albanian monarch Momun Vachagan III approximately in the IV century. So, Moisey Kalankatly informs that exactly during period of this monarch Christianity was widely propagated in Albania, and other religions were persecuted. In such periods most temples belonging to old religions have been added Christianity elements and changed into churches. The professionals definite that while changing Lakit temple into the church its main architecture construction hadn’t been touched (in spite of its reflecting idolatry elements) and only altar corresponding to the Christianity religion dogmas was added.
