Vahid Poetry HouseVahid Poetry House was organized in 1995 on 100th anniversary of Aliagha Vahid’s birthday. It is located in Baku in the area of “Governor’s Garden”, one of the places worth seeing in ancient Baku. This garden was named after Aliagha Vahid and the bust of Vahid was built on the most notable area of the garden. Memorial nights, anniversaries of people that have served to the poetry, literature, culture and art of Azerbaijan, presentations of new books are held at Vahid Poetry House and this tradition is still continued. Since its establishment, the director of Vahid Poetry House is Shahin Verdiyev, a tarzan (tar performer) and a public figure. At this house “Vahid” council of poets was created. Hakim Gani, personal doctor and close friend of Aliagha Vahid, follower of poetic traditions of Vahid, author of beautiful ghazals, had led the council. After his death, Haji Rafig Aliyev, poet and journalist, leads the council. Vahid Poetry House is one of the most favorite places of literary men. Prominent cultural workers, intellectuals, poets and mugham masters of Azerbaijan gather in here and have interesting talks about art, poem and music.
