“Üns” TheatreThe opening of “Üns Creative Stage” (“Üns” means “Relation”), a new model for its form and content in cultural atmosphere of Azerbaijan, was held on April 22, 2006 with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. Opening a new page on the annals of culture of Azerbaijan, this cultural hearth has introduced tens of different performances, variegated compositions to its audience. This cultural project is dedicated to the memory of Aida Imanguliyeva, a prominent orientalist professor of Azerbaijan. One of the ideal directions of this project is to show the artistic reflection of unity of Eastern and Western civilizations in art and culture. The authoress and director of “Üns Creative Stage” project is Professor Nargiz Pashayeva. Our national stage has formed its rich theatre school and created traditions during the past long time. One of the main objectives of “Üns Creative Stage” theatre is to provide the development of the theatre of Azerbaijan in today’s course based on its rich traditions. It is kind of creating the harmony of classic and modern styles. Being a non-profit organization, this project, aimed at realizing the thought, idea and cultural needs, mainly organizes theatrical performances, at the same time it also organizes literary-artistic evenings, meetings with well-known persons, educational activities, because this theatre encompasses different kinds and genres of culture. Based on its purpose, ÜNS is not just an ordinary theatre, it is a hearth for intellectuals to communicate. Taking its unique place in cultural life of Azerbaijan with its repertoire in a short time, ÜNS could demonstrate the synthesis of two spheres, the East and the West in art, on the stage. Every performance in the repertoire of the theatre is a festival for theatre lovers. Single-shows of works of Elchin, meetings with Edvard Radzinsky and Sergei Yursky, productions of “Helikon Opera”, stage productions of Robert Sturua and Roman Viktyuk and interesting finds of several other creative researches have made the theatre more interesting for the audience.
