ALAYAZ (since 1991 in Armenian YEHEGIS) is an Azerbaijani village in Vayots Dzor marz of the city of Yeghegnadzor (originally Turkic Keshishkend). In 1831 - 32, in 1905 - 524, in 1931 - 353, in 1979 - 963 Azerbaijanis. After the massacre of 1918-1920 the Azerbaijani population has decreased by 2 times. In 1988 they were all forcibly expelled.
