REYHANLY

A village in the Zangibasar district, at the intersection of the rivers of Araz and Zangi, near the village of Khabilkend.

Only Azerbaijani Turks lived in the village.

In 1832 there were 80 Azerbaijani Turks (49 men, 31 women) in 12 households, in 1873 - 277 people (147 men, 130 women) in 31 households, in 1886 - 308 people (165 men, 143 women) in 56 households, in 1905 - 405 people, in 1914 - 599 people.

In 1918, the village of Reyhanly, like other villages of the Zangibasar region, was subjected to Armenian-Dashnak aggression, the village was destroyed, looted, burned, part of its population was killed by Armenian bloodsuckers, the survivors were expelled from their native lands.

In the first years of Soviet power, the Reyhanlys, who were able to return to their homeland, restored the village. In 1931 there were only 133 people. Soon the village began to rapidly develop, grow, and its population increased, reaching 442 people in 57  households. But they too were expelled from Azerbaijan as victims of the 1948-1953 deportation.

After Stalin's death, most of the Reyhanlys returned. But at that time Reyhanly was abolished as a village, although people lived in their village, in fact they were considered residents of Habilkend (Kalinin) settlement.

The further fate of the rural population was decided by the genocide of 1988, when once again they were brutally expelled from their native lands.
