On July 3 , 1968 , the village was renamed to Dashtakar. In fact, the Armenians added the word dash (deaf in Armenian) to the name of the village of Dashdy (Dashly), and came up with the name Dashtakar. Until recent years, the village was part of the Boyuk-Vedic Village Council.

The last Azerbaijani families living in the village were expelled from their native places during the genocide of Western Azerbaijanis in 1988, the village was completely Armenized.
