GULLUDYUZ ASHAGI (since 1991 Armenian VARDAOVIT) is an Azerbaijani village in Vayots Dzor marz of Yeghegnadzor (originally Turkic Keshishkend). In 1831 - 115, in 1886 - 217, in 1914 - 151, in 1926 - 32, in 1931 - 190, in 1959 - 256, in 1979 - 369 Azerbaijanis. Despite the traditionally high birth rate in Azerbaijani families, violence and persecution, beatings did not give them the opportunity for population growth. In 1988 they were forcibly expelled.
