Locating in the east of Kur lowland, the young city Shirvan was founded on the left coast of Kur in 1954 in connection with detection of an oil deposit of Kurovdag. Its territory makes 30 км². THE city includes Hajigahramanli and Bayramli settlements. The cities found in vicinities archaeological samples testify the life here, since ancient times. The city was called as Ali-Bayramli till 2010. Shirvan is located on left bank of Kur river, in Shirvan plain, in the transport knot. The largest open-typed DRES in Europe is located in thi city. Climate conditin of Shirvan corresponds to a semidesertic climate. During archeological excavations in the in the bottom part of Mishovdaga, distance of 2 km from a city, rests of city settlement belonging to XIV century have been found out, here. 12 potter's furnaces have remained in very good condition in the .masters’ district. Besides, various home things and ornaments have also been found, here. From national crafts, carpet weaving and carving on a stone and jeweler craft were protected here.
