Baku city animal’s park – Baku city animal’s park is the only one cultural place in the Republic, where the population is allowed both rest and contact with the different kinds of animals. The animal’s park carries out the activity of creation the gene pool of rare and dying animals, preserving it and increasing. Besides of the simple, rare and dying animals belonging to Azerbaijan fauna, the animals belonging to different climate conditions have been gathered in Baku animal’s park. Baku animal’s park includes more than 1193 animals, birds, reptiles and fishes of 168 types, including 193 mammals of 47 types, 400 birds of 70 types, 34 reptiles of 11 types, 4 amphibias of 2 types, 562 fishes of 38 types. According to the official information Baku animal’s park was created on 2 January, 1942 year. During investigation of the document in the Republic National Archive it was defined that there have been different efforts for creating such park. In 1982 year in Lunacharsky (now Nizami) park of Baku such a corner carried out activity. At present the territory of the Baku animal’s park is 4,25 hectares. There are 4 sections carrying out activity in the Baku animal’s park: zoology section, theriology section, ornithology section, aquarium and terrarium section. The animals that are not specific for our nature, like the African lion, Amur tiger, jaguar, leopard, red wolf, arctic wolf, Scotland pony, long-maned sheep, Europe deer, pavian gamadryl, tirandaz, simple big-nosed coon, flying Egypt dog, Nil crocodile, African ostrich, ara parrot, are preserved in Baku animal’s park. The dying and rare types of animals taken to the Red Book, are preserved in Baku animal’s park. Among them the gazelle, Daghistan tur and noble deer, red wolf are included. Majotiry of the birds of prey – berkut, black-bird, black griffon, white-headed griffon, some types of the eagles, pheasants (forest birds), golden goose (water birds), sultan chicken are taken to the Red Book and preserved. The Mediterranean tortoise (reptiles) is preserved not only in Azerbaijan but all over the world. The increasing of the number of animal’s types is mainly carried out by bartering with the foreign zoo-parks. Baku animal’s park is the member of the “Euro-Asian Regional Zoo-parks and Aquariums Association” since 1995 year. Besides that the observation of the animals there are also different entertainments in Baku animal’s park, and this makes the relaxation in the park more interesting. One of those entertainments is the walk on the pony and different attractions. Conditions for tea and coffee drinking, taking photos have been created for the people who came to rest. Baku animal’s park is open from 09:00 till 19:00 o’clock.
