Memorial complex rose for the memory of the “20 Yanvar” martyrs - Opening of the memorial monument complex raised to the memory of the martyrs of bloody January in the "20 January" circle of Yasamal district happened on 20 January, 2010. The memorial complex is located in “20 January” circle in Yasamal district, on the crossing of Hasanbay Zardabi and Muzaffar Hasanov streets. Total area of the memorial complex is 1500 square metres. The walls of the complex have been plastered with the facet slabs brought from Africa and Ukraine. The square around the monument has also been cobbled with the facet slabs. According to the project, the park behind the monument has been renovated; modern lighting system has been constructed in front of the complex. The sublime monument (height 8 metres) has been erected in the centre of the memorial complex. The architect of the complex is Adalat Mammadov, the sculptors of the monument are Javanshir Dadashov and Azad Aliyev. Names of 147 persons killed during the 20 January’s tragedy and even great leader Heydar Aliyev’s words connected with the Bloody January events “20 January 1990 entered the history of Azerbaijan as one of the most tragedy days, and at the same time as the page of heroism of our nation” have been scraped with the gold letters over the complex. And the words “To the memory of 20 January’s martyrs” have been written on the postament.
