  • Azerbaijani musicians thrill listeners

    Young talented Azerbaijani singers Rilaya Huseynzade and Rufat Asadov have presented a cover version of the song "She believes me" as part of "Stay at Home" campaign. 

    The song was composed by Murad Arif,  performer-Zamig Huseynov. The composition is a kind of Ode to Universe in order to protect the Earth from diseases and cataclysms. 

    The music video also features Coffee Band, including Ruslan Huseynov (guitar), Ali Ibrahimzade (guitar), Joshgun Gadashov (piano). The performance fascinated music lovers. 

    Interestingly, the composition is dedicated to two significant events-World Astronomy Day (May 2) and World Sun Day (May 3).

  • "My Little Prince" reaches semifinal of film festival in South Korea

    "My Little Prince" animated film by Azanfilm studio has reached the semifinal of the 8th Seoul Guro International Kids Film Festival (GUKIFF). 

    Founded in 2013, GUKIFF is striving to encourage young generations who will lead the film industry and support them to get various opportunities.

    The main goal of the festival is to present the most outstanding films for children, youth, and families produced in all over the world. The final night of the GUKIFF 2020  will be held on July 2-8.

    GUKIFF wants to introduce various genres of domestic and foreign films dealing with children, family, and dream themes.

    "My Little Prince"  film was inspired by the works of young artist Maryam Alakbarli, dedicated to the same name novel.

    Maryam Alakbarli has nearly 30 works inspired by the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery’s work "The Little Prince". These paintings were demonstrated in a number of prestigious exhibition halls. The animated film was created under the influence of these works.

    A very talented creative team worked on the animated film, including director Arif Maharramov, scriptwriter Iman Ismayil, art director Elchin Efendiyev, designer Amil Guliyev, composer Azer Hajiaskarli and producer Mushfig Khatamov.

    "The Little Prince" has captured the hearts of readers around the world since 1943. The novella is the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet, and pioneering aviator Antoine de Saint-Exupery. The tale was inspired by his experiences in the French Air Force.

    After the outbreak of the World War II, Saint-Exupery escaped to North America. Despite personal upheavals and failing health, he produced almost half of the writings for which he would be remembered, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love and loss in the form of a young prince visiting Earth. 

    Since its first publication, the novella was adapted to numerous art forms and media, including audio recordings, radio plays, live stage, film, television, ballet, and opera.

  • Mugham Center presents another lecture

    International Mugham Center continues to present lectures about Azerbaijan`s musical instruments, aimed at promotion of national music culture.

    The last lecture provided insight into a pear-shaped stringed instrument named oud.

    Oud is a pear-shaped stringed instrument with 11 or 13 strings grouped in 5 or 6 courses. Four strings of the musical instrument were likened to the four elements of nature: fire, water, earth, air. It was often depicted in the works of miniature painting.

    Over the centuries, oud has been transformed several times. Modern oud is a six-stringed musical instrument. Here five strings are paired, and the sixth is unpaired, attached separately.

    Famous for its spectacular concerts, scientific-theoretical and research projects, the International Mugham Center is now switching to online projects, which can be found on Facebook and Instagram.

    International Mugham Center has successfully implemented a number of scientific conferences and discussions from the project cycle of the round table dedicated to mugham art and other genres of music, history and problems of Azerbaijani folk musical instruments, etc. 

  • Book about national cuisine published in Baku

    Azerbaijan's national cuisine is incredibly delicious and diverse. Full of mouthwatering flavors and delicious recipes, it will definitely make your taste buds sing.

    In his new book, famous TV host, actor and film director Bahram Bagirzade highlighted all the richness of the national cuisine. 

    The book "Azerbaijan Cuisine for Children" features the best recipes adapted for little readers to make cooking process more interesting and exciting.

    "Read, cook, delight and surprise your family and friends with delicious food that you can cook by yourself! And remember: cooking is very popular today, not only among girls, but also boys," the author noted. 

    The book will be available at bookstores in Baku after the end of the special quarantine regime in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. 

    Bahram Bagirzade is Honored Artist of Azerbaijan. He is also a member of the Azerbaijan Union of Artists, the Union of Cinematographers as well as Association of Photographers and Society of Cartoonists. 

    Bagirzade is the author of more than thirty books about prominent public and art figures such as Gara Garayev, Vagif Mustafazade,Sakit Mammadov and others. 

  • Azerbaijan Composers' Union supports fight against COVID-19

    Azerbaijan Composers' Union has joined a campaign to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the country. 

    The Union allocated 5,000 AZN [$2,941] to Azerbaijan’s Fund to Support Fight against Coronavirus. 

    The Fund to Support Fight against Coronavirus was established by the decree of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on March 19.

    The Fund aims at providing financial support in fight against COVID-19  preventing the spread of coronavirus in Azerbaijan. 

    Under the presidential Order, the Fund was initially allocated 20 million manats to prevent the rapid spread of the virus and the implementation of health care activities.

    Over the past years, Azerbaijan Composers' Union  has significantly enriched the world musical treasury. The organization is the largest major local union of musicians, which carefully preserves the best traditions of Azerbaijani music.

    The Union was established with the assistance of Uzeyir Hajibeyli on June 30, 1934, as a department of the USSR Composers Union. The founding assembly was attended by 17 composers from the USSR countries, including three Azerbaijani composers — Afrasiyab Badalbayli, Zulfugar Hajibeyov and Niyazi.

    The Union successfully implements a wide range of cultural projects.  The institution is one of the founders of such prestigious musical events as Mugham Festival, Silk Road International Music Festival, etc.

  • Farid Kazakov: Dance of my life

    Dance is a common language that brings together people of different cultures.

    Every year, the world community celebrates World Dance Day on April 29, paying tribute to people who devoted their whole lives to this magnificent art form.

    Famous dancer Farid Kazakov presented a new video timed to such significant date. 

    As the famous dancer admitted, the work on the clip was long, but definitely worth it.

    "I was really looking forward to the moment when the clip would be ready! My team released this video on World Dance Day and presented it as a gift on this wonderful holiday! I am very pleased with the result and I really hope that people will also like this video, because I dedicate all my work to my spectators. This is a kind and my gift to people at this difficult time. I look forward to our new meetings with you!," Kazakov told Azernews.

    The video features Farid Kazakov, practicing choreography at the Moscow State Institute of Culture. The dancer immerses viewers into the wonderful world of dance art.The video aroused great interest among viewers. 

    Notably, Farid Kazakov is a multiple winner of prestigious prizes. 

    In 2019, Farid Kazakov successfully performed at International Kremlin Stars Competition, Solo Star All-Russian Theater Festival and Art Star International Competition and Festival.

    He was also named "The Most Successful Dancer" according to "Trend of the Year 2019" Awards. The winners were determined by voting on social networks and media monitoring.

    Moreover, the dancer also surprised the audience at YARAT with a one-man show "Enuement" staged with the participation of Russian director Louise Eyre.

    Farid Kazakov also shares his skills and knowledge with young people. Farid has been training future gymnasts since 2012. Presently, he is a head coach of the Zabradance Baku School of Gymnastics and Dance. 

    He is also actively involved in charity work. In February, he presented his new charity project "For Kids of Azerbaijan" at Rehabilitation Centre for Children with Down Syndrome.

    Famous dancer also held charity project in several organizations such as Ders Evi Education Center and Yaradan Creative Union.

  • Azerbaijan may join another international convention

    Azerbaijan may join another international convention, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani parliament.

    The issue was discussed at the online meeting of the Azerbaijani parliament’s Committee on Culture.

    So, a bill on the approval of the Convention on the International Exchange of Publications was submitted for discussion during the meeting.

    The Convention was adopted by UNESCO on December 3, 1958 in Paris, entered into force on November 23, 1961 and was ratified by 47 countries. The Convention does not cover classified documents and circular letters.

    Following the discussions, the bill was recommended to be discussed at the plenary session of the Azerbaijani parliament.

  • Music unites famous opera singers

    Opera singers from Turkic-speaking countries have performed together as part of the projects "Bizi birləşdirən mədəniyyət" (United by Culture) and "Sərhədsiz musiqi" (Music without Borders), co-organized by Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Medeniyyet TV.

    The leading soloists of the opera houses of Almaty, Nur-Sultan (Kazakhstan), Baku (Azerbaijan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Ankara (Turkey) and Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) thrilled the listeners with song "We Are the Champions" by the British rock band "Queen". The song has become an anthem for victories at sporting events, including as an official theme song for the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

    Vocalists performed under the direction of the chief conductor and musical director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev.

    Azerbaijan was represented by the director of the Medeniyyet TV,  Honored Artist Ramil Gasimov, as well as talented opera singers Honored Artists Ilham Nazarov and Ilaha Efendieva. The performance of opera singers left no one indiferent. 

    The author of the idea is the director of the Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater Nail Rakhmadiyev.

  • Russian Drama Theater offers free online performances

    Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theate offers free online performances.

    The theater`s programme includes performances for both children and adults. All performances will be shown in real time on the theater’s Facebook and official website.

    Spectators will be able to watch online performances such as “Lie Detector”, “Wolves and Sheeps”, “Another Night of Scheherazade”, “They Are Not Joking with Love”, “Ceremony "," King Lear "," Fedra "," In the Crystal Palace", "Love Affair on New Year's Eve ", "Midsummer Night's Dream ", several parts of the children's the play "Guess the Tale" and much more. 

    The State Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun plays a major role in the cultural life of the country. Charismatic and extraordinary talented theater actors always surprise the audience with wonderful performances.

    Many works of Russian literary figures such as Tolstoy, Pushkin, Chekov, Gogol, Lermontov, Mayakovsky, Lavrenyov, as well as Azerbaijani literary figures such as Jafar Jabbarli, Mirza Fatali Akhundov, Ali bay Huseynzade, Najaf bay Vazirov, Huseyn Javid, works of world classics such as Shakespeare, Schiller, Moliere, Dumas, Hugo, Balzac are staged in the theater.

    The theater team pays special attention to young viewers, and plays a significant role in introducing theater art to children.

    Nowadays, Azerbaijan State Russian Drama Theater is one of the most popular theaters in the country.

  • Shirvanshahs' Heritage in World's Museums

    Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve will screen a short film on the "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums" exhibition. 

    Produced by Medeniyyet TV, the film gives you a chance to get acquainted with exposition, based on 101 unique exhibits, stored in Istanbul Military Museum, Georgian National Museum, National History Museum of Azerbaijan, National Art Museum of Azerbaijan, Military History Museum of Azerbaijan, Shamakhi History- Ethnography Museum, NUM.Az LLC and Icherisheher History Museum.

    Notably, the exhibition was organized by Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve in the framework of the international scientific conference "Journey from modern Azerbaijan to the Historical State of the Shirvanshahs". 

    The opening of the exhibition was timed the release of the colorful thematic album "Shirvanshahs' Heritage in the World's Museums".

    The exhibition featured collection of helmets with inscriptions-parting words. The exhibits of the Georgian National Museum of History  replenished the exhibition with magnificently preserved boilers, which were a mandatory attribute of the Turkic army and had multifunctional significance. Of no less interest are two tiles from the tomb of Pir-Hussein. These unique ceramic facings with inscriptions and paintings are stored in the State Hermitage Museum, as well as the historical museums of Baku and Tbilisi.

    The History Museum of Azerbaijan presented the only golden jewelry of the Shirvanshah era, a brooch with rubies and turquoise, found in the grave of Bike Khanim - the wife of Shirvanshah Sheikh Ibrahim (founder of national diplomacy), mother of Shirvanshah Khalilullah I .
