  • Famous fashion designer launches charity project

    Famous fashion designer Rufat Ismayil has launched international charity project to support the fight against coronavirus in Azerbaijan.

    "I love Azerbaijan. For me it is the most beautiful and beloved place in the world. I grew up and became what I am because of the greatness of this country and nobility of its people. Hard days have come and I cannot be away of this. All of us, personally, one by one should help our country to move through this tragedy. This is my duty. My duty as a man, as an artist, as an Azerbaijani. To that end, I am releasing limited edition T-shirts with unique prints, signed, titled and numbered. Also, we do create an individual art piece based on your photo and print it onto an exclusive T-shirt executed in a single copy..." designer said.

    In addition, everyone who supported this initiative will receive discount coupons from 10 to 30 percent.

    The project is organized with the support of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Creative Azerbaijan portal. All the proceeds will go to Fund to Support Fight Against Coronavirus.

    Rufat Ismayil is the Creative Director and Co-Founder of AFFFAIR brand. He is involved in the collection design and leads the innovative and creative lab of the garment production line.

    As a teenager he started modeling for fashion houses, which brought him the title of Best Model of Azerbaijan in 2000. He continued working as a model for major names such as Paco Rabanne and Valentine Yudashkin.

    Soon his passion for fashion shifted from modeling to creating his own looks. Rufat Ismayil decided to move to Istanbul to launch his own label.

    Rufat Ismayil presented his unique collections in Italy, Iran, Turkey, UAE and other countries. His men's clothing collection was shown at Pitti Uomo 2015, the most important International event for menswear and men accessories collections.

    In 2019, his fashion collection was successfully presented at New York Fashion Week. While creating these looks, the designer used chiffon, silk and other fabrics reminding the khari bulbul flower, the symbol of Azerbaijan's Karabakh region.

    Stunning gowns of the national designer were highly appreciated by fashionistas.

    The world's leading fashion publications, including Vogue magazine (Italy), wrote about fashion collections created by the Azerbaijani designer.

  • Enjoy leisure and cultural activities at home!

    Addım Youth Association invites everyone to enjoy leisure and cultural activities at home. 

    Supported by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Youth and Sports, Addım Youth Association has launched "Evdə Addım-la" project.

    The project features educational, entertaining, informational, sports and other programs for users of social networks who are socially isolated during coronavirus pandemic.

    Fitness trainings, dance lessons, yoga classes, business seminars will be presented as part of the initiative. 

    Social network users can also post interesting and creative videos, using hashtag "Evdəaddımla". After quarantine removal, the best ones will be awarded with special prizes.

    A special quarantine has been declared in Azerbaijan from 00:00, March 24, 2020 to 00:00, April 20, 2020 in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in the country. 

  • "The Steppe Man" film joins two international festivals

    "The Steppe Man" film has entered the main competition program of two international film festivals.

    The film, direcred by Shamil Aliyev, has entered Kiarastami Film Festival (Turkey) and Filmeraa International Film & Web Series Festival (India). The final results will be announced in May, 2020. 

    Directed by Shamil Aliyev, "The Steppe Man"  tells a story of a young steppe man who lives in remoteness from the city, closely tied to nature. His father teaches him the subtleties of life in the steppe.

    Soon after his father's death the young man meets a girl from a city. Their meeting becomes a new page in his life, a step to a big life unfamiliar to him before.

    The film was produced in 2012 at Azerbaijanfilm studio by the order of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

    "The Steppe Man" has been screened at more than 60 international film festivals, including Florence Film Awards 2019 (Italy), European Screen Awards 2019 (Indonesia), White Unicorn International Film Festival 2019 (WUIFF) and others.

    The film also won in such nominations as "Best Director", "Best Screenplay", "Best Female Actor", "Creative Search".

    "The Steppe Man" was selected as the Azerbaijani entry for the "Best Foreign Language Film" at the 86th Academy Awards (the Oscars).

    The scriptwriter of the film is Vidadi Hasanov,   cinematographer-Rafig Guliyev, art directors-Rafig Nasirov and Ibrahim Halil Aminov, composer-Rauf Aliyev, producers-Mushvig Hatamov and Azer Guliyev.

     
  • Ministry of Culture announces new contest

    Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture has announced a contest of stories dedicated to museum exhibits.

    The main goals of the contest include the organization of fruitful leisure time at home during quarantine, development of creative activity, identification of talented authors, etc.

    There are 14 exhibits, among which those wishing to take part in the competition should choose one.

    Contest rules are very simple:

    - share a post about the contest on your Facebook profile

    - Write no more than 2000 words in essay

    The story must be sent not later than May 15, 2020 to the following email address:

    Participants must indicate their name, surname, year of birth and contact number.

    The winner of the competition will receive a Kindle e-reader and diploma.

    The authors of the best ten stories will be awarded with diplomas as well.

  • Baku to host republican art contest

    Talented artists are invited to take part in a republican art contest “We are grateful”. The competition is co-organized by Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture, Azerbaijani Artists Union and the State Art Gallery. 

    The competition aims to express dedication of healthcare workers, law enforcement agencies and the Azerbaijani police during coronavirus pandemic.

    The art contest is open for all artists no older than 30 years. Foreigners living in Azerbaijan can also take part in the competition. 

    Registration will be open until May 15th. The selection will take place in 3 age categories (5-12 years old, 12-17 years old and 17-30 years old). Three separate exhibitions will be also held for each age category. 

    Winners in each age group will be announced and awarded by the Ministry of Culture.

  • Baku Book Center looks for best essay

    Baku Book Center has announced an essay contest on the topic "Life after coronavirus".

    In the essay, everyone is invited to express his view of what life will be like after the end of the coronavirus pandemic, to share his vision on scientific, socio-political, humanitarian, social, economic, psychological consequences. 

    The Center will chose the best six essays.The author of the contest idea is member of the Azerbaijani Writers Union, professor Elmira Suleymanova.

    More details are provided on the Center`s Facebook. The deadline is May 10, 2020.  

    Baku Book Center was officially opened to visitors on September 1, 2018. The main goal of the Center is to encourage people in reading book as a bearer of cultural, spiritual values and useful knowledge.

    Here booklovers can also take part in presentations of books, literary and musical evenings, meetings with cultural and art workers, thematic master classes and much more.

    The Center also organizes events with the participation of international organizations and diplomatic missions.

    By the decision of the CIS Executive Committee, Baku Book Center has been awarded the diploma "For the great work in development of domestic book distribution and international book exchange in 2018."

  • State Chamber Orchestra stuns music lovers

    Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra have successfully performed work of prominent  Azerbaijani composer Fikrat Amirov.

    The home concert was held as part of campaigns "Bizi birləşdirən mədəniyyət" (United by Culture) and "Gələcəyin üçün evdə qal!" (Stay home for your future), co-organized by the Azerbaijan Cultural Ministry and Medeniyyet TV.

    This week, Medeniyyet TV organized a series of events dedicated to eminent Azerbaijani composers Gara Garayev and Fikrat Amirov.

    In the framework of the project, soloists of the Gara Graraev Chamber Orchestra brilliantly performed Fikrat Amirov's  "Scheherazade's Fest " from "One Thousand and One Nights " ballet.

    The project was attended by more than 15 musicians, who recorded their performance on the phone. Then all the records were mounted in one video. 

    Founded in 1964, Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra continues to delight music lovers with works of national and foreign composers.

    The orchestra has successfully toured many countries and took part in various musical events, including Azerbaijani Culture Days in Beijing (2011),  the 2nd Ramatuelle International Classical Music Festival in France (2011) and so on.

  • State Art Gallery displays art works of national artists

    Azerbaijan State Art Gallery has opened a virtual exhibition as part of "Evdə qal, qalib gəl" (Stay at home and win) action. 

    The exhibition displays art works of Azerbaijani artists, including Eyyub Mammadov, Altay Sadikhzade, Fikrat Bagirov, Elbey Rzaguliyev, Ibrahim Rzayev, Rasim Babayev, Talat Shikhaliyev, Tofig Agababayev, Mirnadir Zeynalov, Faig Aghayev, Asaf Jafarov, Sakit Mammadov,Gafar Seyfullaev, Telman Abdinov, Abdul Abdulkhalig.

    The virtual exhibition included 16 works written in various techniques, reflecting  the life of artists. The exhibition aroused great interest among art lovers.

    Previosly, the gallery presented a virtual exhibition "My sweet home", featuring paintings by such artists as Mammad Mustafayev, Tagi Taghiyev, Hafiz Zeynalov, Boyukagha Mirzazade, Niyaz Najafov, Fuad Gafarov, Chingiz Farzaliyev, Faig Aghayev and many others.

  • Share your story with National Carpet Museum!

    Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum inivites you to join its new international project. All you need is to share the story about your most favorite carpet and explain why this carpet is so imortant  to you.

    "Most of us have favorite carpets at home that we got from our parents or grandparents. They bear the memory of our families and the warmth of several generations. These carpets design the interior of our apartments and houses. For many years and even decades, they have been delicately preserved, cleaned in summer, and carefully folded until the next winter.Carpets share joy and sorrow with us, create coziness in houses; the beauty of their bright colors and a variety of compositions add a festive atmosphere to any interior. Some of them are passed down to generations. There are those that are created for a particular event: they are both memorable gifts and an invaluable legacy," the message said.

    Everyone can join the project.  The rules are the following:

  • Soloists of Philharmonic Hall thrill music lovers

    Soloists of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall has joined campaigns "Bizi birləşdirən mədəniyyət" (United by Culture) and "Gələcəyin üçün evdə qal!" (Stay home for your future), co-organized by the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Medeniyyet TV.

    This time, the musicians thrilled music lovers with the works of Uzeyir Hajibeyli as part of  "Week of Uzeyir Hajibeyli", initiated by Medeniyyet TV. 

    Soloists of the Azebaijan State Choir, Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra, Azerbaijan State Orchestra of Folk Instruments presented  their home performances, calling Azerbaijanis  to stay at home.
