"An economy based on continuous learning and knowledge is one of the main vectors of education. Our universities should not be carriers, but catalysts of innovation, which is our main goal," Deputy Education Minister of Azerbaijan Idris Isayev said.

Report quotes him as saying that he noted that strategic roadmaps support innovative activities of educational institutions.

"Some of our universities include centers that serve as business incubators and basic resources for technology and support start-up projects. But this is not enough," Isayev said.

Higher education institutions in Azerbaijan should focus on research activities: "They need to commercialize this activity. The rapid development of society over the past 25-30 years dictates the need for innovation and moral education, and investments are made in this area."
