A new modern football stadium will be constructed in Sumgayit city in 2021. The architect of the new design project is Cahid Hasanov.
Concrete pouring work has already begun to build a new stadium, which will be commissioned next year.
Hasanov said that for the first time in the history of the world stadium buildings, a statue-moving fountain complex will be built in front of the stadium, resembling the struggle of two football players made of stainless steel. Moreover, a moving fountain will be built around the statue.
The architect added that these fountains will play the role of the famous "Mexican wave”, a wave created by fans standing up and raising their arms, in world football.
“The new design of Sumgait stadium, which is an innovation in the world stadium construction, will make a great contribution to the city's architecture in a modern style,” Hasanov said.
"Six sculptures in different sports will be installed in the stadium as well. This is a sign that the stadium will be a venue not only for football games but also for various sports competitions,” he added.

Turkey will send another package of medical aid to Azerbaijan over the fight against COVID-19.
Thus, medical supplies will be delivered to Azerbaijan in accordance with the agreement signed on providing assistance in the field of health between the Azerbaijani and Turkish governments on July 6.
The agreement on providing medical supplies to Azerbaijan was renewed by the order of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on August 5.
The medical aid package includes 30 devices of IVL, 35,000 coveralls, 50,000 N95 masks, 100,000 surgical masks, 5,000 medical protective glasses, 200,000 gloves, 40,000 boxes of various medicines (Tamiflu and hydroxychloroquine).
The medical supplies will be supplied to Azerbaijan "as a gesture of friendship and goodwill,” reads the agreement.
It should be noted that the first package of medical aid from Turkey was sent to Azerbaijan in the fight against coronavirus infection on 6 July. That package included 30 devices of IVL, 55,000 coveralls, 50,000 N95 masks, 100,000 surgical masks, 5,000 protective glasses, 200,000 gloves and 40,000 boxes of the various medicines used for the treatment of a virus.
Azerbaijan’s coronavirus task force has taken another step in mitigating coronavirus quarantine regime that will be in force in the country until August 31.
Taking into account the positive dynamics of the coronavirus infection and the need to strengthen economic activities, the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers has decided allow the activities of some areas of production, trade and services.
Thus, as of today, the following activities are allowed in Baku, Sumgait, Ganka, Yevlakh, Masalli, Jalilabad, Mingachevir, Absheron, Barda, Salyan, Khachmaz, Goranboy and Goygol regions:
- holding street sports competitions and games;
- activity of trade objects on sale of non-food products and consumer services (except large trade centers);
- production of machinery and equipment;
- production of electrical equipment;
- production of computer, electronic and optical products;
- production of cars, trailers and semi-trailers;
- manufacture of other vehicles;
- manufacture of printing products;
- manufacture of jewellery;
- production of musical instruments, sporting goods;
- garment manufacturing;
- textile industry;
- footwear industry;
- leather and leather goods production;
- tobacco production;
- manufacturing of other industrial products.
Moreover, restrictions are lifted around the number of employees, 50 percent, as well as 30 percent of the total number of employees working under employment contract, involved in work in the following areas:
- production of daily care and hygiene products; production and repair of construction and household appliances; engineering and design services; production of packaging products; production of stone, metal and wood products; production and repair of furniture; points of sale for animal feed, including pet stores; points of sale of building materials and household trifles; online sales; dry cleaning; cleaning of residential premises, except apartments; car repair; car washes; shelters for animals; translation services.
Furthermore, the decision was taken with regards to the entry and exit to/out of the regions. Thus, from August 10, in the territories of abovementioned cities and regions, the entry and exit is allowed under the following circumstances:
-persons wishing to take part in the funeral of a close relative on the basis of a permit obtained through the Call Center Service 102 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
- on the basis of the certificate issued by the doctor in connection with receiving treatment on urgent medical necessity or on schedule;
- persons having tickets for relevant international and domestic flights, as well as on the basis of a stamp applied to the passport of citizens entering the country through the state border in the relevant order at the place of residence or stay.
Additionally, Presidential Aide Shahmar Movsumov announced that the activities of cafes, restaurants and catering facilities might be partially resumed as of August 17.
“The resumption of outdoor activities of cafes, restaurant and catering facilities from August 17 and the opening of the possibility of visiting the country’s regions from August 24 are being discussed,” he said.
The Operational Headquarters has warned citizens that in order to synchronize economic activities with measures to prevent the spread of infection, it is necessary to strictly observe sanitary and epidemiological requirements. Observance of sanitary-epidemiological requirements is the only way to continue and further expand economic activity.
On August 5, SMS permit system was abolished, allowing citizens leave their place of residence freely.
Azerbaijan's pop-folk ensemble "Janghi" performed at Music of the World International Ethnic Festival in St. Petersburg on August 8.
The festival's 5th edition was held online amid COVID-19 pandemic.
For many years, the ensemble has successfully represented Azerbaijan at prestigious music competitions and international festivals.

Ancient necropolis has been discovered in Shamakhi after heavy mudflows. As a result of the flood, ancient graves were founded by local resident Namig Mustafayev in Gushchu village.
Soon after this, the head of the Shamakhi Archaeological Expedition at the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography Akif Guliyev and representative of the State Service for the Protection, Development and Restoration of Cultural Heritage,Yasin Nuriyev inspected the area.
The examination showed that nine graves came to the surface on the slope as a result of heavy rains. They dug in the soil were covered with large flagstones. The graves are situated at the depth of 1.5-1.8 meters from the ground surface.
Moreover, ten pieces of pottery of different sizes and shapes, including bird-headed human figures, idols, griffins, animal figures metal coins have been also discovered on the area.
The figures of bird-headed human figures are of great interest. Such kind of griffins was characterized by Thoth goddess of wisdom and science in ancient Egypt. Numismatic artefacts found in the tomb chamber indicates that the necropolis belongs to the I century. Archeological research works will be conducted in the monument in near future.
It should be noted that Gushchu village has always been of interest to archaeologists. The village is rich with monuments belonging to antiques and early middle ages. Formerly, large-scale archeological research works were carried out in Galajik settlement, in the necropolises belonging to the Ancient and Early Middle Ages.

Arif Melikov's "Nocturne" from the ballet "The Legend of Love" sounded at the festival.
The composer had not yet turned his 28 when the premiere of his first ballet was staged at the Leningrad Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre.
For many years, "Legend of Love" has won a widespread recognition and the love, not only in Azerbaijan, but also far beyond its borders. The ballet was successfully staged in more than 80 countries, including Austria, Turkey, UK, Germany, Brazil, etc.
Arif Melikov's symphonies, pieces for the symphony orchestra and other works have significantly enriched the treasury of Azerbaijani ballet and symphonic music.
The soulful music of "Nocturne" was highly appreciated by the audience. During the concert, the musicians also performed works of such prominent composers as Ludwig van Beethoven, Frederic Chopen, Niccolo Paganini, George Gershwin, Sergei Rachmaninov and others.
Notably, Ruslan Biryukov graduated from the Secondary Special Music School-Studio at Baku Music Academy and Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
Young sculptor Tabriz Soltanli has made a memorial plaque in memory of Colonel Ilgar Mirzoyev.

Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev began his literary activity when he was studying at the Shusha real school. Under the influence of Mirza Fatali Akhundov, he wrote a short play called "Haji Dashdamir" (1884). In 1892, Hagverdiyev wrote his first dramatical piece, a comedy entitled "Yeyarsan gaz atini, gorarsan lazzatini".
While in Saint Petersburg, Hagverdiyev wrote the first epic tragedy in the Azerbaijani language, Daghilan ittifag ("The Breaking of Unity", 1896).
In 1899, he returned to Shusha and got involved in theatre directing. Alongside, he continued to write plays, namely Bakhtsiz javan ("The Unlucky Young Man", 1900) and Pari Jadu ("Nymph Magic", 1901). A historical tragedy "Agha Mohammad Shah Qajar" (1907) brought him great fame. Since1906 Hagverdiyev was writing for the satirical magazine "Molla Nasraddin".
He also directed Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov's opera "Leyli and Majnun" (1908). Between 1911 and 1916, the writer lived in Agdam dedicating most of his time to fiction writing.
The writer also lived and worked in Tiflis as a reporter for the local Russian-language newspaper. Over these years, he translated some Russian writers as Gogol and Ostrovsky as well as European writers Shakespeare, Molière, Schiller and others into the Azerbaijani language.
Azerbaijani poet Sahib Mammadov has been named the winner of the Mikhail Plastov International Literary Prize.
The poet was awarded with a diploma "For the height of creative success" signed by the deputy chairman of the board of the Moscow Union of Writers, academician S. Antipov and chairman of the award committee K. Spassky, Trend Life reported.
Sahib Mammadov presented three poems at the competition "They told me", "That's all" and "Faces".
Mammadov is a two-time laureate of the literary competition of the Nasimi festival. He is a laureate of the Eurasian festival LiFFt-2019 and many other international competitions.
The main goal of the contest is to discover talented contemporary Russian-speaking poets, to promote their creative growth and to attract the attention of the general public to contemporary poetry.
The competition was held on the website of Serebro Slovo Publishing House. According to the contest rules, the best poems will be published in near future.
