  • AzTV to demonstrate “One day” of Azerbaijani police

    Azerbaijan Television has launched another new project of 2022.

    According to AzTV’s Social Media and PR Department, one-day activity of representatives of various occupations is reflected on the project entitled “One day”.

    Thus, one field is selected; a representative of that sphere becomes the hero of the program.

    The filming crew shoots their entire working day from morning till evening.

    So, viewers are informed about what kind of work a professional does in one day.

    Despite the fact that the first film of the “One day” project was dedicated to the only female cotton grower who works with a harvester, afterwards, some changes were made to the plans due to the pandemic, as well as the start of the Patriotic War.

    The film devoted to the Azerbaijani police – “Without delay” is ready. One-day activity of a police officer is demonstrated in the film. Along with his professional activity, his feelings and excitement as a human are also reflected in the film.

    The author of the project is Elchin Musaoghlu, cameraman – Elkhan Rustamov, sound director – Jeyhun Aghayev, producer – Fatima Azimova.

    The films are expected to continue in a series.

    The film entitled “One day: without delay” will be broadcast on February 23, at 18:30, on AzTV.

  • Baku to host Dance Championship

    Azerbaijan Youth Union (AYU) and the Azerbaijan Dance Association (ADA) are pleased to announce the Baku Dance Championship.

    The competition will take place at the Rashid Behbudov State Song Theater on March 6.

    Speaking about the Baku Dance Championship, chairman of the organizing committee Aziz Azizov noted that the competition will be held in accordance with the quarantine rules.

    "The main goal of the competition is to find talented soloists, ensembles and exchange experience between dancers. Baku Dance Championship attracts young people to the choreography art. The competition also focuses on issues of the training process on dance teams. We will continue to work to further increase the level of choreographic art in Azerbaijan", he added.

    Baku Dance Championship  will be held by age categories: small age group (up to 6 years old), children (7- 10 years old), juniors (11-15 years old), adults (16-25 years old), pros (25 years old and older).

    The following disciplines will be presented at the competition: ethnic folk, folklore stylization, folk show, dances of the peoples of the world, classical dance, dance show (variety), hip-hop, break dance, acrobatic (gymnastic) dance, oriental dance, classical Indian dance, modern Indian dance (Bollywood).

    The winners will be named in various nominations, including solo, duet, small group (3-7 people), group (8-12 people), ensemble (13-20 people), large ensemble (21-50 people).

    The judges will evaluate dancers according to the following criteria: dance technique, image, composition.

  • Azerbaijan weighs restoring conservatory in Shusha

    Some proposals have been made on restoring a conservatory in Shusha, Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture Anar Karimov said at the public debates on challenges and business opportunities in the creative industry.

    Report quotes him as saying Shusha's traditions must be revived.

    "Our establishments must be restored. The Master Plan of Shusha is under development, and it includes the restoration of cultural centers," the minister said.

  • French news portal shares article about Khojaly genocide

    France-based “Musulmans en France” news portal has posted the “Khojaly genocide” article dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy within the “Azerbaijan Realities in Virtual World” project of the Azerbaijan State Translation Centre (AzSTC).

    The author of the article is Haji Abdulla, a specialist at the AzSTC, and the translator is Fuad Hasanoglu, the French language specialist at the AzSTC.

    “Musulmans en France” with a large range of readers regularly publishes materials on the history, literature and prominent figures of Muslim world.

  • Art Tower Gallery to host caricature exhibition

    The Art Tower Gallery will showcase Adil Gadirov's caricatures on February 24-26.

    The exhibition "Music from books" is organized by the Baku-Oxford School team in memory of the guitar teacher and talented artist to mark his birthday.

    Adil Gadirov was passionate about art from a very young age which turned into a starting point in his wonderful life journey as a poet, musician and artist.

    The artist was born on February 24, 1955 in Baku. He graduated from the  Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.

    Having his eye on both music and art, he started to draw caricatures, seeing them among the lines of books.

    Adil Gadirov's caricatures are very individual, unique and special. Those who saw these caricatures recognized their relatives, friends and co-workers.

    Unfortunately, the artist passed away on May 4, 2021.

    Adil Gadirov will forever remain alive in the memory of art enthusiasts.

  • AirBaltic to resume Riga-Baku flight

    Latvia’s airBaltic is resuming flights to Baku from May 1, 2022, Report informs referring to the airline’s website.

    The Riga-Baku flights will be operated twice a week. The price minimum for a one-way ticket is 145 euros.

    Direct flights between Azerbaijan and Latvia have been suspended due to the COVID pandemic.

    Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer of airBaltic said: “As the travel industry recovers, we are once again able to offer our passengers more travel opportunities. We hadn’t flown to Malta or Baku since 2019 and are excited to return.”

  • Azeri Light price nears $100

    The price of a barrel of Azerbaijan's Azeri LT CIF oil in the world market has increased by $1.45 or 1.48% to $99.34 per barrel, Report informs.

    Yesterday, the Brent crude price was $92.22 a barrel.

    The average oil price in the state budget of Azerbaijan for 2022 was set at $50 a barrel.

    The lowest price for Azeri Light was recorded on April 21, 2020 ($15.81), and the all-time high of $149.66 was fixed in July 2008.

  • “Days of Azerbaijan in Moscow” get underway with support of Heydar Aliyev Foundation

    A series of cultural events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation will be held in Moscow from 21 February to 1 March with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

    An exhibition of works by People's Artist of Azerbaijan Tahir Salahov, “Works from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery”, will be held at the New Tretyakov Gallery as part of the “Days of Azerbaijan in Moscow”.

    Another exhibition, “Azerbaijani carpets – a new look”, will be displayed at the “Azerbaijan” pavilion at the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy in Moscow. The “Azerbaijan” pavilion will also feature a literary project “From mouth to mouth” based on the “Seven Beauties” poem by great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi.

    On the evening of 22 February, a gala concert entitled “Music stars of Azerbaijan on the Moscow stage” will be held on the stage of the Helikon Opera Musical Theater. Conducted by Azerbaijani Honored Artist Fuad Ibrahimov, the concert will feature a repertoire of works by Azerbaijani and Russian composers performed by Jeyla Seyidova, Dinara Aliyeva, Elchin Azizov, Elvin Ganiyev, Murad Adigozalzadeh, Sahib Pashazade, Shahriyar Imanov and Yusif Eyvazov.

  • “Friendship” carpet presented in Azerbaijani pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

    A presentation of the “Friendship” carpet has been held in the Azerbaijani pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The presentation was co-organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and “Azerkhalcha” OJSC.

    Made on the basis of traditional Azerbaijani carpets and using new contemporary designs, the “Friendship” carpet is the result of a joint cooperation between the creative team of “Azerkhalcha” and Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan Rashad Alakbarov. It took 7 months to make the carpet, including works on design, preparation of patterns, weaving of the carpet, and its treatment.

    Famous historical and contemporary monuments of Azerbaijan and the Emirate of Dubai, as well as elements of their flora and fauna are reflected on the carpet.

  • Azerbaijan to host VII Baku Int'l Humanitarian Forum

    The VII Baku International Humanitarian Forum will take place in October, the Azerbaijani Culture Ministry has reported. 

    The Forum serves as a platform for a wide range of dialogues, different viewpoints and discussions on global humanitarian issues.

    The forum aims to create a dialogue through round tables, where every participant can listen and be heard in the arena for actual topics of concern.

    There is a possibility that Azerbaijan will also host other international events this year, the ministry added.

    It should be noted that the Baku International Humanitarian Forum has been held in the city capital once every two years since 2011.

    The 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum held on October 25-26, 2018, brought together 580 delegates from over 90 countries and 24 international organizations under the slogan "Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development".

    Two UN deputy secretary generals, as well as heads of organizations such as ISESCO, IRCICA, TurkPA, TURKSOY, the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the International Turkic Academy, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the UN Economic and Social Council, UNESCO deputies, the International Fund for Turkic Culture and Heritage, and the CIS Executive Committee, attended the forum.

    The International Humanitarian Forum is a prestigious event that brings together prominent statesmen from around the world, Nobel Prize winners in various fields of science, and leaders of major international organizations.

    The main goal set by representatives of the world cultural elite is to shape a new humanitarian agenda in the fields of natural, social, and human sciences with the intention of considering it at an international level in the future.
