  • Baku to host charitable photo exhibition

    Ramin Aslanov's photo works  will be exhibited at  Heydar Aliyev Palace on November 23.

    The main goal of the project is to support talented youth, form aesthetic taste and show the beauty of Azerbaijan.

    All proceeds from the sale of works will be transferred to the YASHAT Foundation.

    Set up by the presidential decree in December 2020, the foundation's work covers the families of servicemen killed or disabled during the war and also the families of employees of state bodies (institutions) who became disabled or lost their lives while serving in the liberated lands or while removing the consequences of military operations in the liberated lands.

    YASHAT receives donations made through voluntary financial assistance provided by Azerbaijani citizens, Azerbaijanis living abroad, other individuals and legal entities, as well as other sources not prohibited by law.

    The exhibition will be followed by a concert. The music pieces by a prominent composer People's Artist Jahangir Jahangirov will be performed as part of the event.

  • Stunning cinema show held in capital

    Avanqard Chamber Orchestra has a truly stunning concert in Baku.

    The orchestra consists of 21 professional musicians, directed by conductor Arif Aslanov, and composer Tamilla Akhadova.

    The evening was dedicated to the first anniversary of Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War.

    Public and cultural figures as well as media personalities, including People's Artists Eldar Mansurov, Fuad Osmanov and Ayan Mirgasimova, actors Abdugani Aliyev and Gasim Nagi and others attended the concert held at the State Security Service's Culture Center.

    The project was organized by Art-East Media Group with the support of the Azerbaijanfilm Studio, CinemaPlus cinema chain and the Azerbaijan Youth Fund.

    Speaking about the project, the head of the Art-East Media Group Miralaskar Aslanov stressed that the Avanqard Orchestra was created just six months ago.

    Over this time, the orchestra has already taken part in a number of major presentations, evoking positive responses. So, it was decided to present a full-fledged concert program.

    The orchestra's repertoire now includes more than sixty soundtracks from films and animations.

    Fascinating show "Music Projector" delighted the audience with soundtracks of popular films, images from the films, musical performances, dance numbers and animations.

    Through a musical time machine, viewers could travel through the world of cinema.

    The show featured choreographic numbers, theatrical special effects.

    The evening ended with the patriotic composition "Vetene Dogru" by Pike Akhundova, dedicated to the brave Azerbaijani soldiers, heroes of the Karabakh war.

  • Oriental Heritage int’l exhibition opens in Baku

    The International Contemporary Art Exhibition ‘Oriental Heritage’ has opened in Baku, Report informs.

    The exhibition was organized by Goethe-Zentrum in Baku in cooperation with the European Union to Azerbaijan and the administration of the historical-architectural reserve ‘Icherisheher’ in the historical monument Gasim bey Hamam, built in the 17th century.

    The exhibition aims at raising public awareness about the importance of preserving universal cultural heritage.

    Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko, as well as ambassadors of other European countries, have attended the event.

    The exhibition consists of works of art in the genres of photography, video art and installations by artists from Azerbaijan, Germany and Brazil.

    The exhibition will last until December 1.

  • Karabakh Open Dance Cup wraps up in Aghdam

    Over 400 dancers from  Agjabadi, Ganja, Shaki, Baku and Aghdam have gathered at Karabakh Open Dance Cup 2021 to show their best in choreography art.

    The final night was held in Aghdam's Guzanli village. The dancers performed in various dance types, including classical, modern,  acrobatic, folk,  Indian dance and stylization of folklore (author's dance).

    The event was co-organized by the Azerbaijan Dance Association and the Youth Union.

    Speaking about the dance cup, president of the Azerbaijan Dance Association Aziz Azizov noted that there was particular tension during the competition in formation dance category due to large teams.

    "To make a decision on this nomination, the judges had to take a technical break. The cup system does not imply the latter, third and other places. After a long discussion, the decision was made in favor of the Alov team  (Baku) led by Emil Panakhov. However, Khamsa dance team (Ganja) was named best among ensembles (from 12 to 24 dancers)," said Azizov.

    The list of Karabakh Open Dance Cup 2021 winners included dance ensembles Alov, Ayan, Buta, Cimbeybi (Baku), Khamsa (Ganja), Turajı (Agdam).

    In conclusion, he congratulated all professionals who focuses on development of  the country's young talents in the region and those who contributes to the renovation of dance art in Azerbaijan.

  • Azerbaijani film nominated for Oscar

    Rufat Hasanov's  film "The Island Within" has been selected as the Azerbaijani entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards.

    The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be held next March.

    The film tells about Seymur Tahirbayov who is one of the world’s leading chess grandmasters. A few weeks before the most important game of his career, he secretly travels to an island inhabited by just one resident in order to rediscover himself.

    "The Island Within" was shot by order of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture by Azerbaijanfilm and Debüt film studios, together with Arizona Productions, Coyote Cinema and Mandarin Agency. 

    The post-production is the National Film and Animation Center under the French Ministry of Culture and Baku Media Center.

    The cast includes People's Artists of Azerbaijan Vidadi Hasanov, Gurban Ismayilov, Rafig Azimov, actors Orkhan Ata and Elvin Adigozal. 

    The film's director of photography is Orkhan Abbasof, production designer – Elturan Mammadov, composers – Katya Yonder and Farhad Farzali, sound editor – Teymur Karimov, first assistant director – Kamran Aghabalayev, executive producer is Nadir Aliyev.   

    In 2020, Azerbaijani feature film "The Island Within" was named best at the 26th Sarajevo Film Festival. The film won "Heart of Sarajevo" Award in the "Best Director" category. 

  • Baku to celebrate International Day for Tolerance

    The International Day for Tolerance is celebrated worldwide on November 16. 

    Declared by UNESCO in 1995, the Day focuses on  public awareness of the dangers of intolerance. 

    Every year various conferences and festivals are organized as part of the celebration, Trend Life reported. 

    The International Day for Tolerance will be celebrated in Baku.

    The event is co-organized by the Foundation for the Promotion of Moral Values ​​under the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations and the Christian Community "Vineyard Azerbaijan ".

    The evening is dedicated to the Victory Day in the Patriotic War.

    The event will be attended by the leadership of the State Committee and the Fund, representatives of the country's religious communities, cultural and scientific workers, and public organizations.

    The official part of the program includes performances by invited guests, as well as screening of social videos and films about tolerance in Azerbaijan.

    The concert program will feature patriotic songs performed by famous musicians, various religious compositions and national dances.

    The event will end with joint prayers of the leaders of religious confessions in  Azerbaijan as an example of tolerance.

  • Gunay Afandiyeva: We propose to build a cultural center of the Turkic world in Karabakh

    “We propose to build a cultural center of the Turkic world in the beautiful Shusha - native Karabakh, which is an integral part of the Turkic world,” said President of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Gunay Afandiyeva in her speech at the 8th Summit of Foreign Ministers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States.  Gunay Afandiyeva said: “The Great Karabakh Victory won by Azerbaijan, in fact, was the Victory of the entire Turkic world, because it united the entire Turkic world. Turkey's open spiritual support for Azerbaijan has become an example of true brotherhood and friendship for the whole world. On the 30th anniversary of their independence, the Turkic-speaking states once again proved that they have common values - Turkic values. Not to forget these values, our rich heritage and to present them to the world is one of the priorities of the International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. To this end, this year the Foundation organized conferences, exhibitions, events dedicated to the “Great Silk Road”, women and children, traditions and many other topics, implemented large-scale projects, published books in Germany, Poland, Italy and other countries reflecting the culture of the Turkic world, postage stamps were issued in Spain, performances were staged in Bulgaria.  The “Dede Korkut” Chamber Orchestra, created under the auspices of the Foundation, organized concert programs committed to the opening of the Year of Bela Bartok, as well as the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi.  The International Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation is also expanding its international relations. Thus, this year a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Foundation and Lithuania. The Memorandum provides for the preservation and promotion of the heritage of the small ethnic peoples of Turkic origin - Tatars and Karaites living in Lithuania. With the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, the Foundation organized an exhibition and concert dedicated to Tatars and Karaites, as well as a scientific conference.  Finally, the Foundation's documents were approved this year. For this, I express my deep gratitude to the Presidents of the founding member States of the Foundation - Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. All this motivates us to new successes and victories.  We propose to build a cultural center of the Turkic world in the beautiful Shusha - native Karabakh, which is an integral part of the Turkic world. We are working in this direction on our part.  This center will become a place of fusion of our history, culture, heritage, will become one of the symbols of our solidarity, a new proof of our eternal brotherhood.”

  • Fikrat Amirov`s ballet to be premiered in Baku

    Fikrat Amirov`s ballet  "Nizami" will be premiered at the State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater on November 20.

    The premiere is dedicated to the 880th anniversary of one of the most prominent figures of medieval Azerbaijani philosophical poetry.

    The musical director of the performance is the theater`s principal conductor, Honored Artist Ayyub Guliyev, the author of the libretto is Ajdar Ulduz.

    The ballet is choreographed by People's Artist, artistic director of the ballet troupe, professor Kamilla Huseynova. The art director of the ballet is the Honored Cultural Worker Tehran Babayev.

    Spectators  will undoubtedly pay attention to the musical editing of the original work by Fikrat Amirov. Ayyub Guliyev give the genius music a new breath but preserving the ballet`s uniqueness. 

    Moreover, the ballet  is built in acordance with all canons of classical European ballet. 

    This performance promises to be a major event that will go down in the history of the Azerbaijani national ballet.

  • Young talents to perform in Baku

    Youth support project will celebrate its 5th anniversary on November 23.

    Laureates of republican and international competitions Osman Mustafazade, Ozjan Jabbari, Jamal Abdinzade, Zumrud Alizade, Asim Rzazade, Huseyn Nagiyev,Vagif Gurbanov, Jalala Ismayilzade,  Ali Muradov, Teymur Kazimov, Nadir Guliyev and others will perform at the concert.

    Young musicians will be accompanied by the Azerbaijan State Chamber Orchestra under the baton of the Orkhan Gashimov.

    The evening will feature works by famous composers, as well as a work written by a young author Yusif Abbasov and Lala Ahmadova. 

    The audience will also be pleased with their performance by the Lumineux vocal ensemble.

    Initiated by the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Hall, "Youth Support" project aims at discovering and supporting young talents in Azerbaijan.

    The project is headed by the director of the State Philharmonic Hall, People's Artist of Azerbaijan Murad Adigozalzade, project coordinator is Ayla Karimova-Zekeriyye. 

    "Youth Support" project addresses the wide audience with different tastes.

    A series concerts organized within the project have been always met with great public interest.

  • Latvian Animation Festival opens in Baku

    The opening of the first Latvian Animation Festival “A Small Nation - Big Animation” took place in Baku, Report informs.

    The event was organized by the Latvian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

    The famous Latvian director of animation films Vladimir Leschiov, who will also hold a master class in Baku, has become a guest of the festival.

    The Latvian Animation Festival will run until November 21, with two screenings per day. The following films by Vladimir Leschiov will be shown at the festival: "Electrician’s Day", "Waiting for the New Year", "Rainy Days" and "Wings and Oars."

    Latvia is known worldwide for its visual storytelling style and animation creators.

    Vladimir Leschiov studied with the famous Polish animator Piotr Dumala, created his first films in Sweden, and worked in Japan.
